Convenience Concepts Ledgewood End Table, Espresso

I bought this table as a temporary solution, but it might become permanent. It looks much nicer than expected. I have bought RTA furniture made in Asia before, and it’s usually pretty shoddy stuff. This piece, made in Viet Nam, is solid wood with visible grain and a warm, mahogany finish–no flimsy paper veneers, fake grains or muddy brown colors. The raised edge adds a feeling of security, preventing drinking glasses or small objects from falling off. The lower shelf is convenient for storage and it’s a good spot for oversized books or decorative bowls.This is just as nice as pieces that cost far more at more expensive retailers who shall remain nameless. (One rhymes with Blottery Slarn.) It’s also nicer than tables from an inexpensive international store, again nameless, that may or may not sell Swedish meatballs.Full confession: This table was too tall for my sofa, so I cut 4″ off the bottom of each leg. Sounds awful, I know, but I did it very carefully and added new floor protectors to the bottom. It looks great. I can confirm that it is solid wood, because I cut through it. It also means that, if you are handy (a miter box or miter saw helps), you can adjust the height.All in all, a very satisfying purchase for only ~$70.
